Haruya Maruyama, managing officer of Japan-based DENSO Corporation, was named president and chief executive officer (CEO) of DENSO International America, Inc., DENSO’s North American headquarters, on April 1, 2008. He had been serving as president of DENSO Automotive Deutschland GmbH (DNDE), DENSO’s sales and engineering company in Eching, Germany.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from Waseda University in Tokyo, Maruyama joined DENSO Corporation (formerly Nippondenso Co., Ltd.) in April 1978.
Maruyama began his career in DENSO’s Tokyo sales office where he established sales with Honda through promoting body-related products. In 2001, Maruyama was named general manager of the Sales Department 1 in charge of overseas sales and marketing. During his tenure, he helped create DENSO’s plans for business growth in Europe, including building local production capabilities, partnering with European suppliers and promoting cooperation among various business groups.
In July 2002, Maruyama was promoted to president of DNDE. In this position, Maruyama has streamlined the organization of European sales companies and led especially the sales of compressors and air conditioners to German automakers. Under his leadership, DENSO is leading sales of air conditioners in Germany.
In June 2004, Maruyama was appointed a managing officer responsible for overseeing all European sales activities.
As president and CEO of DIAM, Maruyama also is chair of the Board of Directors for the North American DENSO Group. |
