Achieving a sustainable society in which automobiles do not adversely impact people or the global environment is a major goal of DENSO's EcoVision 2015, a long-term worldwide strategy announced November 2005.

The EcoVision strategy includes the development of what DENSO calls Eco-Products. In designing these products, DENSO considers not only performance, but also the environmental impact of the product.

Here are some examples of North American-manufactured Eco-Products that help preserve clean air, prevent global warming, promote recycling or reduce harmful effects on the environment.



Preserving Clean Air

The monolithic carrier acts to reduce or oxidize harmful emissions such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.

Air Flow Meter

This air flow meter measures the flow rate of air into the intake manifold, resulting in the correct air-fuel ratio for efficient combustion.



Preventing Global Warming

Alternator

A design segment conductor produces a smaller, lighter alternator requiring less use of raw materials.


HVAC Unit
Manufactured at DENSO Manufacturing Michigan and DENSO Manufacturing Canada

The plastic case on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit is molded with 20 percent in-house recycled material.  A titanium-based process provides corrosion resistance instead of chrome, and a raw material switch from copper to aluminum eliminated lead solder from manufacturing processing operations.



Reducing Hazardous Substances

This instrument cluster and air conditioning panel is manufactured without the anti-corrosive hexavalent chromium, an environmentally hazardous substance that can leak into the underground water table if a product containing the metal is not disposed properly.


AC Blower Motor

DENSO's blower motor is manufactured with lead-free electrical brushes.


Windshield Wiper System

This wiper motor is manufactured with lead-free electrical brushes.
