BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – DENSO Air Systems Michigan Inc. (ASMI) will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a picnic and plant tours for its employees and their families on Saturday, May 17, at their Fort Custer campus.
ASMI, formerly Koyo Corporation, was established in Battle Creek in March 1987 as a material warehouse. The company began production in June of 1989 with just 30 employees. Today, ASMI employs nearly 400 people from Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and surrounding communities. The campus includes 113,000 square feet of manufacturing and administrative floor space on 13.25 acres. ASMI became part of the DENSO group in 2009 and is now the North American headquarters for DENSO Air Systems, supporting facilities in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Frontera,Coahuila, Mexico.
ASMI produces automotive air conditioning and heating aluminum tubes. With a broad customer base, the company supplies to all major OEMs, including Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford, Chrysler, Hyundai and Subaru. ASMI has earned numerous awards for quality, service and environmental activities.
Over the last 25 years, ASMI has supported various local agencies and institutions through corporate giving and volunteerism, including the Food Bank of South Central Michigan, March of Dimes, the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, Adopt a Family, the American Legion and the American Red Cross.
