WHEN: Saturday, June 5, 2010, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Come anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
WHERE: The DENSO/Southfield team will meet at DENSO International America, 24777 Denso Drive, just south of Franklin Road off Telegraph in Southfield, Mich.
WHO: Working with the City of Southfield Forestry Division and Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy, a team of more than 125 DENSO employees and their families will participate in the Annual Rouge River Cleanup.
WHAT: A section of the Rouge River in Southfield will receive much-needed attention: removal of trash and the opening of logjams in the river itself; removal of invasive species garlic mustard and dames rocket, and removal of trash and other debris on the corner of Denso Drive and Telegraph Road.
WHY: DENSO has supported Friends of the Rouge for 12 consecutive years, with financial contributions and participation in the Rouge Education Project and annual Rouge Rescue Cleanup events. Also, DENSO, as a company, was born and raised in rural Japan - surrounded by local farmers whose livelihood was dependant on the land. Because of this upbringing, the idea of helping your neighbor and preserving the environment has long been engrained in DENSO's 60-year history.
In Southfield, DENSO International America is the North American headquarters of DENSO Corporation, a leading automotive supplier of advanced technology, systems and components. In the Americas, DENSO employs more than 16,000 people with consolidated sales totaling US$5.7 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010.
Interviews are available with team volunteers and company vice presidents. Great photo/video opportunities. For on-site contacts during event, call Bridgette LaRose Gollinger at (586) 703-3322.
