DENSO SAFETY PRODUCT: HEADS-UP DISPLAY

DENSO HUD Reduces Driver Eye Fatigue

March 6, 2000

With DENSO's new Heads-Up Display (HUD), a driver can look directly out the front windshield of the car keeping an eye on the road and simultaneously see the vehicle's speed displayed in a virtual image on the windshield.

DENSO's HUD reduces driver eye fatigue because eye movement between watching the road and checking the vehicle's speed is much less than that required in a vehicle without a heads-up display. In that situation, the driver must constantly switch his eyes from the road down to the speedometer mounted on a standard instrument cluster.

This heads-up display features a double TN LCD with a reflected image distance of 1.9m. Its image size is 29mm x 66mm with an intensity of 3000Cd/m2.

DENSO International America is the North American headquarters for DENSO Corporation, the fourth largest automotive supplier in the world. With operations in 25 countries, DENSO's global sales total $14.5 billion.

In North America , DENSO employs 13,000 at 21 companies. Its 1999 North American consolidated sales are estimated at $3.6 billion.
