Change Point: Face Covering Required at All Times
Wearing a mask or face shield is less about protecting yourself, and more about protecting others. When we all wear masks, our risk of sharing germs with each other drops dramatically. So, DENSO will require everyone in all North American facilities to wear a face covering (cloth mask, paper mask or face shield) at all times. You are only permitted to remove your mask when: 1. Eating or smoking in a designated area (while following social distancing guidelines), or 2. Sitting at a desk (when it is a dedicated, non-shared workspace).
Here is a preview of barriers that have been installed on the plant floor and in the main office. We will continue to share photos as we continue to expand barriers into all areas.
It will take us a while to get used to this change. We will need to respectfully remind each other to follow this new rule. But in all of our shared spaces, including work stations, meeting rooms, break areas and hallways, we must protect each other by wearing a face covering.
This pandemic has shown us just how resilient and adaptable we can be. As a return to more normal manufacturing operations grows closer, we will share detailed instructions for returning to work safely, including DENSO-provided face coverings and how and when you will be asked to return to campus.
A Message from Global President Arima
Please see the attachment for an important message from DENSO Global President Koji Arima. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a dramatic impact on our people, and our business. His message shares key information about the role each of us plays in our return to a new normal.
Customer Plans Becoming Clearer
DENSO continues to work closely with our customers across North America to better understand their plans for when, and how quickly, they will begin new car manufacturing again. Right now, our primary thermal customers are planning a gradual return beginning May 11 (Honda, Toyota) or May 18 (GM, Fiat-Chrysler, Ford). This means that while only essential workers are permitted on DMMI’s campus, the number of associates considered essential will grow in the next two weeks.
Of course, these plans are subject to change. Please stay in close contact with your supervisor to better understand what these schedules mean for you.
