Changes to the COVID-19 Illness/Quarantine Leave Payment and Process

Since the COVID pandemic began in March, we have learned much more about how to maintain safety inside and outside the workplace. DENSO has put strong safety measures in place to keep associates as safe as possible while at work, like barriers, requiring and providing face coverings, no-touch door handles, social distancing in common areas, and more. At the same time, testing for COVID-19 is more readily available than it was in the early days of the pandemic.

Because of these new safety protocols and the availability of testing, we are updating the COVID-19 Illness/Quarantine Leave Payment and Process. These updates take effect on Friday, June 26.

  • If you or a household member are diagnosed with COVID-19, you will be paid for up to 14 consecutive calendar days (10 business days) equal to the amount you would have received. That pay will be retroactive to your first day missed from work.
  • If you have symptoms (fever, dry cough, loss of taste or smell, etc.), and you are turned away from work, you will be asked to call the DENSO Family Health Center or your doctor to determine if you should be tested for COVID-19. If your test result is positive for COVID-19, you will be retroactively paid. If your test is negative, you can use either PTO or No Pay/No Penalty. Please follow this same process if you have had close contact with someone with COVID-19, recent travel, or if you think you might have some of the symptoms of COVID-19.
  • A second COVID-19 diagnosis for you or a household member may be eligible for FMLA (> 3 days) and/or short-term disability (> than 7 days) if you are under doctor’s care or needing to care for a household member. Otherwise, leave will be No Pay / No Occurrence Penalty.

If you have questions, contact your HR Talent Rewards & Systems leave administrator or a Team Member Solutions representative.
