DIAM: COVID-19 Update (April 1, 2020)

We continue to adapt to the challenges COVID-19 has brought to our communities and our workplaces.  Despite the many unknowns, we stand by our philosophy of supporting you through this time, and ensuring DENSO can endure the extended slowdowns caused by COVID-19.

Many states have announced a shelter in place/stay at home order, meaning residents must remain at home except for certain circumstances. State and federal orders like these define automotive manufacturing as “essential” work. That includes production of aftermarket and service products, as well as mass production. We will continue working with our customers to only produce what is necessary at any given time.

We cannot exist without our associates, but we also cannot survive without our customers. Our team is focused on always practicing safety while meeting customer needs so that we can have a bright future together.

Our approach to operations and pay will remain the same for the week of April 6. See below for the details.

Operations

  • We must continue to provide service and repair parts per federal guidelines.
  • As our customers define critical manufacturing, we will adjust our schedule and approach to meet their needs. Our customers’ decisions will affect our operations.

Hourly Associate Pay

  • Notrequired to work, or unable to work from home: You will be receive 6.4 hours paid per day for April 6-9.*
  • Required to work on-site: Leaders will notify you if you are required on-site.  You will be paid your regular rate, in addition to a premium of $30/day, for any time worked on-site.** Normal attendance rules apply.
  • Working from home: Work with your leader on a work from home plan. You will be paid your regular rate.
  • Temporaries, contractors, co-ops and interns: You will be receive 6.4 hours paid per day for April 6-9.*

* DENSO associates will receive 8 hours of holiday pay for Friday, April 10, for DENSO Spring Holiday.

** Premium details:  Premium will be paid one week after normal paychecks. We apologize, but we need to manually process this premium due to payroll software limitations. This premium is approximately 20% or more for most associates.

Salaried Associate Pay

  • Required to work on-site: Your leader will inform you if you are required on-site. You will receive your regular pay.
  • Notrequired on-site: Work with your leader on a work from home plan. You will receive your regular pay.

Associates should continue to check-in with their leader to understand additional changes.
