DIAM: COVID-19 Weekly Case Count (Jan. 29-Feb. 5, 2021)

DENSO North America
Weekly COVID-19 Case Update – Jan. 29-Feb. 5, 2021

This week, 89 additional positive COVID-19 diagnoses were reported at DENSO affiliates in North America. This brings our total to 2,622 positive diagnoses throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States (U.S.).

While we are thankful to report a continued downward trend in case rates again this week, we must also share the tragic news that another DENSO associate has passed away due to COVID-19 complications. Please join us in sending our deepest sympathies and condolences to this associate and their family.

Following local investigations into cases at DENSO facilities this week, most were classified as community spread (household, gatherings, travel, etc.). There are four cases in Mexico this week that have been classified as possible workplace exposure, and two cases are still under investigation.

Country This Week’s Cases Total Positive Diagnosis Number of Deaths Exposed in Community Exposed at DENSO Unable to Determine Under Investigation
US 41 1443 4 1421 14 8 0
MX 48 1174 4 1112 42 18 2
CN 0 5 0 5 0 0 0
NA TOTALS 89 2622 8 2538 56 26 2

  • Exposed in Community – transmission attributed to community or home
  • Exposed at DENSO – transmission attributed to DENSO site contact
  • Unable to Determine – cannot confidently determine the source of exposure after thorough investigation (may have been exposed outside or inside of work)
  • Under Investigation – investigation is on-going both internally as well as with county health departments

COVID-19 Vaccine: Let’s Learn Together

We do not know when COVID-19 vaccines will be available to DENSO associates. But we do know that we want to make getting the vaccination as easy as possible for everyone. So this week we will begin sharing vaccine information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other industry partners.

Getting vaccinated adds one more layer of protection for you, your coworkers, your family, and your loved ones. Here are some things you should know about COVID-19 vaccination:

  • All COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States are very effective at preventing the disease.
  • None of the currently authorized COVID-19 vaccines use the live virus that causes COVID-19. You may have symptoms like a fever after you get it. This is normal and a sign that your immune system is learning how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19.
  • The most common side effects are pain in the arm where you got the shot, feeling tired, headache, body aches, chills, and fever.
  • Ending this pandemic requires using all the tools we have available—wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands frequently, and getting vaccinated.

The National Association of Manufacturers has kicked off This is Our Shot, a vaccine awareness campaign. We think this video, “I Love Frank,” could bring a smile to your Friday. Thanks for learning with us as DENSO prepares for our “shot” at the vaccine.
