DIAM: COVID-19 Weekly Case Count (Oct. 16-23, 2020)

We want to remind you of the DIAM process if you experience COVID-19 symptoms or if you’ve been diagnosed with COVID-19.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Do not come to any DIAM campus
  • Inform your manager or chain of command
  • If you have been at a DIAM campus in the last seven (7) days, send an email to covid@na.denso.com with the following details:
    • dates symptoms started
    • date of last day onsite
  • Someone will follow up with you to gather additional information.

If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19:

  • Do not come to any DIAM campus
  • Inform your manager or chain of command
  • You or your manager needs to send an email to covid@na.denso.com with the following details:
    • date symptoms started
    • date of last day onsite
    • date of COVID-19 test results
  • Someone will follow up with you to gather additional information.

How we will report positive diagnoses to you:

If a DIAM associate with a positive diagnosis has been onsite within the past seven (7) days, our intention is to notify all DIAM associates within 24 hours of the time that we receive the information. If an associate with a positive diagnosis has not been onsite for more than seven (7) days, we will share that information in the Friday COVID Weekly Case Count email. We will immediately contact anyone who has been in close contact with a diagnosed individual.

DIAM Cases:

This week, we learned of two (2) associates from our Southfield campus who tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Case 1: We were notified of this positive diagnosis on Oct. 20. The associate has not been on-site since August 19, so there is no need for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Case 2: We were notified of this positive diagnosis on Oct. 21. The associate was last on-site on Oct. 14, so there is no need for cleaning and sanitizing.

We ask that you respect confidentiality, even if you believe you know who these associates are. Please join us in wishing for their quick recovery.

NA Region Cases:

From Oct. 19-Oct. 23, 2020, we have had 69 new positive COVID-19 diagnoses at DENSO affiliates in North America. That brings our total to 855 positive diagnoses across the region. We are deeply saddened to report that a DENSO team member lost his battle with COVID-19 and passed away. This is a reminder that COVID-19 is a deadly virus, and we have to stay vigilant in terms of safety measures.

Country Total Positive Diagnosis Number of Deaths Exposed in Community Exposed at DENSO Unable to Determine Under Investigation

CN 0 0 0 0 0 0
NA TOTALS 855 3 819 11 17 8

Exposed in Community – transmission attributed to community or home

Exposed at DENSO – transmission attributed to DENSO site contact

Unable to Determine – cannot confidently determine the source of exposure after thorough investigation (may have been exposed outside or inside of work)

Under Investigation – investigation is on-going both internally as well as with County health departments

Reminder:

COVID-19 cases are rising across most of North America, so we need to work together to minimize risk at work and outside of work. Please continue to wear a mask, keep a physical distance and wash your hands. DENSO will continue to follow its in-house guidelines and external vendor procedures to keep our worksites safe, including these two main types of cleaning:

  1. Using EPA-registered disinfectants that help to kill COVID-19 when used according to the label directions and Safety Data Sheet.
  2. Using UV light, which inactivates the coronavirus making it unable to cause infection.
