DENSO has established reopening phases while we recover from COVID-19. We previously announced reopening phases for each site effective through Oct. 31, based on state and local requirements. Today, we are extending the current phase at each site through Jan. 31, 2021. We will continue to assess the situation and are committed to sharing our next reopening update with you by mid-January. Summary of phases for each DIAM location is below.
DENSO Return to Work Phase | Locations | What it means |
Phase 1A | San Diego, CA | Phase 1A only allows Work from Company for those who need to support manufacturing (customer or DENSO operations).
Those who work in a plant or warehouse only work from company when needed (to meet customer orders, prepare future orders, or meet other customer needs). |
Phase 1B | All Michigan Sites – Southfield, Novi, Ann Arbor, Holland
Plano, TX
Washington D.C.
Seattle, WA |
Phase 1B allows for on-site work beyond what is required to meet immediate customer needs.
· This allows associates who are unable to add 100% value working from home to come on-site. · Associates who cannot add 100% value from home are expected to be on-site as needed to add full value.
Phase 1B does not mean everyone should or must return to work on campus. We will continue to limit the number of associates working from the company to keep population density down.
Management (up to and including Functional Leaders) of staff who are working on-site are required to provide suitable on-site support. |
Phase 2 | Montreal, Quebec
Dublin, OH
Waterloo, IA
Pittsburgh, PA |
Phase 2 allows more flexibility to Work from Home or Work from Company, while maintaining social distancing and safety rules.
· Preferred method is Work from Home where job permits and 100% value add can be achieved. · Work from Company periodically or routinely is an option for increased efficiency, relationships with others, quality of job, etc.
Management (up to and including Functional Leaders) of staff who are working on-site are required to provide suitable on-site support. |
Many customers and other companies have announced that they will not reopen for the foreseeable future. DENSO will continue to assess the situation with COVID-19, and state and local orders, on a quarterly basis in order to determine our reopening phases and plans. Associate safety is our number one priority. If we see improvements and are able to safely progress into reopening phases, our goal is to do so to allow for more on-site collaboration for those who need it. We are committed to sharing our next reopening update with you by mid-January.
This week, we shared a preview of the new North America Work from Home policy. This policy will go into effect after we progress through reopening phases. Until then, please continue to follow the reopening phase for your site, keeping safety and quality as our highest priorities. We will share regular updates on the work from home policy as we progress. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Team Member Solutions: Jason Raubenolt.
As we reform the way we work, DIAM has formed a Campus Reform Team to investigate changes to our campus footprint in Southfield and some of our satellite locations. You’ll hear updates, and may be asked to provide feedback to support this activity, as we transform our campus to better support how we collaborate, communicate and get things done.
