DMMI – COVID-19 Update, including Return to Work Phase Change

Defining Return to Work Phase 1

As the State of Michigan moves to re-open more industries and public places, DENSO has more clearly overlaid our return to work plans with State of Michigan phases. This includes the division of our Phase 1 into Phase 1A and Phase1B. Effective Thursday, June 4, DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) will move into Phase 1B.

What Does Phase 1B Mean?

  • Phase 1B allows for on-site work beyond what is required to meet immediate customer needs.
    • This opens the door to allow exempt associates who have been unable to add 100% value working from home to come on-site.
    • Exempt associates who cannot add 100% value from home are expected to be on-site as needed to add full value.
  • Phase 1B does not mean everyone should or must return to work on campus. We will continue to limit the number of associates working from the company to keep population density down.
  • Directors are determining who will return to work on-site in order to add 100% value.
    • Associates should work with their leader to understand how they will combine work from home (WFH) and work from company (WFC) to add full value
    • Depending on role and department, associates may WFC entirely, WFH entirely, or some combination during the remainder of Phase 1B.

When Michigan announces entry into Phase 5, we will enter Phase 2 at DMMI, which allows for associates to work on-site more freely, while still limiting the number of people on campus through rotating schedules and/or adjusting core work hours.

Facility Notes & Reminders: Using Outdoor Spaces Safely

As more associates are using outdoor common areas to enjoy the weather on break, here are a few reminders:

  • The use of smoke shelters is prohibited per DENSO’s safety guidelines. These structures are closed, and have been boarded up to prevent usage.
  • Please use barriers and/or social distance in smoking and other outdoor break areas. Tables that do not currently have physical barriers installed have been marked for physical distance. Additional plexi-glass is on order and will be installed as soon as possible.
  • Smoking is temporarily permitted in personal vehicles as another socially distant option for break times. Please properly dispose of your debris!

External Doors to Remain Closed

Proper air flow is an important part of maintaining a safe work environment while we combat the COVID-19 virus. Propping entry and roll-up doors may increase air flow in the immediate areas, but it is not permitted. In order to maintain the full function and filtration of our ventilation systems, please keep all external doors closed.

Payroll Questions

Remember that payroll inquiries by individual associates and leaders should be emailed to the North America Payroll account:  na_payroll@denso-diam.com. DMMI payroll is no longer processed on site, so the quickest and most direct way to get questions answered is by using this email address to reach the team who can help!

DMNC, KDMK Associates Test Positive for COVID-19
Last week, KYOSAN DENSO Manufacturing Kentucky (KDMK) and DENSO Manufacturing North Carolina (DMNC) Greenville had 3 associates test positive for COVID-19. These facilities have been thoroughly cleaned per DENSO’s Safety Policy. All DENSO associates are encouraged to monitor their personal health and home and follow screening procedures before entering any facility. Please join us in wishing for these associates’ quick recovery.

Mental Health Resources

We hope the series of mental health information provided throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has helped you and your family during the past few weeks. In this last installment, we are providing additional resources on the Benefits Website to use as we continue to live our new normal:

  • Keep Your Mind Grounded: tools to help focus on the present and manage situations when your mind is constantly racing
  • NAIMI-Warning Signs: a list of common warning signs or symptoms of mental illness

Remember, the DENSO Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides resources and support for many issues including mental health, family conflict, domestic violence and financial hardship. For more information, go to the Benefits website, use code “denso,” and click COVID-19 at the top. EAP info and resources can be found along the left-hand side.
