Associate FAQ: Does a reduction to 60% of base pay qualify associates for unemployment?

DENSO’s core philosophy includes a commitment to protecting job security as much as possible, even in times like the COVID-19 pandemic that challenge us beyond anything we could have imagined. However, we understand that recent reductions in work hours and pay has impacted you during these uncertain times. It is possible that DENSO associates, temporaries or contractors are eligible for state and federal unemployment assistance. The reduction to 60% of base pay does expand the number of associates who may be eligible. Because eligibility is based on your individual earnings, the only way to find out is to apply.

Information you need to apply for unemployment has been summarized and posted on the DENSO Mobile App under Explore > Coronavirus (COVID-19).

While it is each associate’s responsibility to follow state unemployment procedures, the DENSO Associate Relations team is prepared to answer your DENSO-specific questions.

It is important to understand that DENSO’s production slowdown is temporary, and associates should be prepared to return to work when required. Filing for unemployment benefits does not impact your healthcare benefits, your active status as a DENSO associate or your length of service/seniority. However, if DENSO has work available, turning it down will disqualify you for unemployment benefits.
