DMMI – May 20 Update on COVID-19 Approach

Burmese Translation

Pay Approach for Week of May 24

We continue to expand our operations across the region in alignment with state and local government orders and our customer schedules. DENSO has been and will continue to strictly follow all state and local government orders and safety protocols to minimize risk.

Our overall approach to pay remains the same for the week beginning May 24. However, since there is a holiday next week, there will be a slight difference in paid hours. Please read the details below.

Safety

  • Because your safety is our top priority, we have developed rigorous safety measures to help protect you as we return to the workplace. More details about these safety measures are in:
    • DMMI Returning to Work Safely Mailer
    • DMMI Entrance Screening Video Preview
    • DMMI Work Space Video Preview
    • DENSO North America Toolkit (password: denso2020)

Non-exempt Associate Pay

  • Needed for On-Site Work:
  • Associates will be paid 8 hours for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25.
  • Leaders will notify associates who are needed to work on-site
  • When finalized, a list of required associates and their start times will be posted by associate number on DENSO Online and DENSO Mobile.
  • Associates will be paid normal wages, with a minimum of 6.4 hours per day from Tuesday-Friday for full-time associates.
  • Please follow new entrance screening procedures—do not come to work if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone who is sick.
  • Refusing to come to work when needed (except those on an approved leave) disqualifies you from receiving DENSO minimum base wages and State Unemployment benefits.
  • Working from home: Work with your leader on a work from home plan. You will be paid for hours worked, plus 8 hours of holiday pay on Monday, May 25.
  • Not needed on-site and unable to work from home: Full-time associates will be paid 8 hours for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25. Associates will be paid 80% of their regularly scheduled hours (6.4 hours for full-time associates) for Tuesday-Friday beginning Tuesday, May 26. Associates can use a half day of PTO to supplement their pay for the week beginning May 24.*
  • Contractors, co-ops and interns:  Co-ops, interns and eligible contractors will be paid 8 hours for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25. For the week beginning May 24, full-time workers will be paid for hours worked, with a minimum of 6.4 hours per day. If you are able to work more than 6.4 hours a day, you will be paid for hours worked.

*DENSO associates with paid time off (PTO) can choose to supplement this partial payment with a half day of PTO, otherwise the time will be recorded as unpaid time off without penalty.

Exempt Associate Pay

Exempt associates will follow the same plan and expectation as this week, as we continue to be in Phase 1, or operations focused on immediate customer needs. Please note that May 25 is Memorial Day, and you will receive 8 hours of holiday pay for that day.

  • As our customers continue ramping up mass production, more exempt associates will return to campus. However, this is limited to associates whose in-person presence is necessary.
  • Exempt associates who are not required to support operations should continue to work from home. This is an opportunity to focus on the value-added work or idea that you have not had time to consider in the past.
    • Associates with a full-time workload will be paid 100% of their wages.
    • Exempt associates who cannot add full value can take unpaid time off or a half day of PTO.
  • Associates who are part of NA Functional teams will follow direction set by your NA Functional Leader.

We will continue to update you on a week-by-week basis about our approach to operations and pay. Our commitment is to communicate openly and honestly as we navigate the challenges ahead.

A Note about Face Shields

The face shields that DENSO has provided to associates are reusable. Please do not throw away any portion of your face shield. The foam padding along the forehead fitting can be replaced upon request. And remember, face shields should be cleaned and sanitized daily.

Need Payroll Help? Use the NA Payroll Email

Payroll questions, adjustments and inquiries should be sent to the North America Payroll email inbox. Please send a message to:  na_payroll@denso-diam.com with your associate number and question or concern.

Stationary Smoking, Please!

A note to associates who use our smoking areas—please maintain social distance by standing near the designated buckets in the smoking areas. These areas were designed to minimize the amount of smoke that travels back inside the building while keeping social distance. Thank you!

Associate Survey – Safety, Return to Work

Please take a few minutes to respond to this week’s quick survey focused on safety and retuning to work. All responses will be completely anonymous and will help us develop meaningful and impactful plans as we transition to a new normal at work. To access the survey, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DENSO_COVID19-2
