DMMI – Thursday, May 21 Update on DMMI Approach to COVID-19
Clarifications on Next Week’s Pay Approach
We apologize for any confusion about our explanation of associate pay next week. Here are some additional details to help clarify.
- All full-time associates will be paid 8 hours for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25.
- Non-exempt (hourly) associates working on site or from home from Tuesday, May 26-Friday, May 29 will be paid for hours worked, with a minimum of 6.4 hours of pay per day.
- Exempt associates with a full-time workload from Tuesday, May 26-Friday, May 29 will be paid their regular salary.
- Some associates—both exempt and non-exempt—cannot work full time because of the nature of their position and current workload or customer schedule. This group of associates will be paid 8 hours of holiday pay on Monday, and 80% of normal wages Tuesday-Thursday, which equals 25.6 hours of base pay. So, all full-time associates will be paid a minimum of 33.6 hours for next week.
- Those that have, and wish to use, paid time off (PTO) to supplement their pay should inform their leader. Per DMMI policy, PTO must be taken in 4- or 8-hour increments by full-time associates, not to exceed 40 hours per week. This means that due to the holiday next week, associates can use a maximum of 4 hours of PTO to supplement their minimum pay, for a total of 37.6 paid hours next week.
We’ve included some examples to help clarify further.
- Non-Exempt Associate: An associate works on a core assembly machine that serves a customer who has reduced their orders. That associate would come to campus based on their leader’s instruction. They would be paid for hours worked, with a minimum of 6.4 hours per day. If they work a partial week (Tuesday-Thursday, 8-hour shifts) and are not needed at work on Friday, they would be paid 38.4 hours (8 hours holiday, 24 hours straight time, 6.4 hours minimum pay). That associate is not eligible to take PTO because the minimum 4-hour increment for full-time associates would push them over 40 hours.
