DMMI Associate Tests Negative
Last Sunday, we were notified that a DENSO Manufacturing Michigan (DMMI) associate working in respirator manufacturing was referred for COVID-19 testing by their doctor. Thankfully, that test has come back negative for COVID-19.
We continue to monitor all those who enter our campus for fever and other symptoms, limit on-site associates to essential workers only, and encourage anyone experiencing symptoms to stay home. Please continue to do your part by practicing excellent hand washing and respiratory hygiene (covering coughs and sneezes) and wearing a mask if required to work on-site.
DENSO Manufacturing North Carolina (ASMO)-Michigan Associate is COVID-19 Positive
On April 21, we were notified that a DENSO Manufacturing North Carolina (DMNC) associate working in Quality at DMNC’s Michigan location has tested positive for COVID-19. The associate was last on the DMNC Michigan campus on April 6.
Because the associate has not worked for the past 15 days, CDC guidelines do not require additional associates to self-quarantine. We continue to ask everyone to self-monitor for fever or other symptoms.
Even though the associate has not worked at DMNC Michigan for more than two weeks, DMNC will clean and disinfect in accordance with our North American policy, including the area where this associate works and common areas.
Please respect confidentiality, even if you believe you know who this individual is. The person is being treated; join us in wishing for their quick recovery.

Pay & Operations Approach Remains the Same for Week of April 26
The pandemic and each state’s response is starting to shift, and we know you have questions about what that means for you. We will share more details with you soon about when and how DENSO will begin to safely ramp up operations.
We want to share an update regarding pay for the week beginning April 26. We will maintain the same approach as this week. See below for details.
Nonexempt Associate Pay
· Not required to work, or unable to work from home: Full-time associates will be paid 32 hours for the week beginning April 26. Part-time associates will be paid 80% of their regularly scheduled hours. This will allow most associates to keep full pay when combined with paid time off (PTO) each week.*
*DENSO associates with paid time off (PTO) can choose to supplement this partial payment with PTO, otherwise the time will be recorded as unpaid time off without penalty.
** Premium details: Daily premium(s) will be processed and paid one paycheck after payment for hours worked. We apologize for the additional time needed to process these payments. The premium is approximately 20% or more for most associates
Exempt Associate Pay
· Our approach to operations and pay will remain the same for exempt associates during the week of April 26.
· This crisis has impacted every job in our organization. Without normal operations, it is nearly impossible for associates to make the same contribution.
· Exempt associates at all levels are expected to continue to optimize their work-from-home contributions and take one PTO or unpaid day off for the week beginning April 26.
· Leaders will work with individuals to plan work schedules for next week and accommodate each team member’s time off.
· Of course, there are associates contributing more than ever during this crisis. We thank those of you for keeping our facilities, operations and critical projects moving during this unprecedented time. These associates will continue to be paid 100% of their wages, as they carry out their full-time responsibilities.
· Associates who are part of NA Functional teams, you will follow direction set by your NA Functional Leader.
We will continue to update you openly and honestly as we navigate the challenges ahead. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Frustrated by Foggy Glasses? Here’s a tip!
Do you get frustrated when your glasses fog up every time you exhale while wearing a facemask? For those wearing safety or prescription eye glasses, we have a tip for you!
All you need is some shaving cream/foam or dish soap for this quick fix. Shaving cream is known for creating a protective barrier that stops glass from fogging up. Simply dab a little bit onto your lenses and rub it in with a dry towel. Let the soap sit and dry on the glass for a few minutes, then wipe them down; you’ll be good to go within minutes.

Part-Time Associate Eligibility for Benefits
We previously communicated that part-time associates can drop below the minimum hours required to keep DENSO benefits for 30 days without an impact. As this situation extends beyond that timeline, please be reassured that part-time associate benefits will not change when they are not required to work. We have reconfirmed with our Benefits Team that although they are unable to work, they are remain on our schedule, so their benefits will not be interrupted.
Finally, Happy Earth Day, DMMI!
Today is the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. The first Earth Day in 1970 launched a wave of action, including the passage of landmark environmental laws in the United States. The Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts were created in response to the first Earth Day in 1970, as well as the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Many countries soon adopted similar laws. The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement, and is now recognized as the planet’s largest civic event.
