Today’s update includes our approach to operations and pay for April 13-17 and a quick wrap-up of our virtual town hall.
Approach to Operations & Pay: April 13-17
Thank you for your patience and understanding these past few weeks as we adjust to the challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. As we’ve noted before, our commitment is to support you and ensure that DENSO as a company can endure the extended slowdown caused by COVID-19.
Operations
Non-Exempt Associate Pay
Our approach to operations and pay will remain the same for hourly associates during the week of April 13. See below for details shared last week.
· Nonexempt Associate Pay
· Not required to work, or unable to work from home: Paid 80% of base wages—32 hours for full-time associates. Part-time associates will be paid 80% of their regularly scheduled hours. *
· Required to work on-site: Leaders will notify you if you are required on-site. You will be paid normal wages, in addition to a premium of $30/day for any time worked onsite.** Normal attendance rules apply.
· Working from home: Work with your leader on a work from home plan. You will be paid 100% straight-time pay with a minimum 32 hours paid for full-time associates.
· Temporaries, contractors, co-ops and interns: 80% pay (32 hours for full-time workers) for April 13-17.
*DENSO associates with paid time off (PTO) can choose to supplement this partial payment with PTO, otherwise the time will be recorded as unpaid time off without penalty.
** Premium details: Premium will be paid one week after normal paychecks. We apologize, but we need to manually process this premium due to payroll software limitations. This premium is approximately 20% for most associates.
Exempt Associate Pay
For some associates, this pandemic has shifted priorities and responsibilities. You may find that there are parts of your job that are on hold as we navigate this “new normal.” As some workloads drop below full time, we need to make an adjustment to protect jobs and provide a path for everyone to maintain wages for now. To achieve this, we will divide exempt into two groups, starting the week of April 13.
The Management team has completed preliminary assignments of associates into groups based on job roles. These assignments will be finalized for each individual and your leader will notify you by 4PM on Friday, April 10. Those who are part of NA Functional teams, you will follow direction set by your NA Functional Leader.
Leaders will review each individual situation on a weekly basis, so we can be sure this approach accurately reflects responsibilities. Please continue to check-in with your leader regularly for updates.
While this may not be ideal, it will help us to continue our commitment to support you while maintaining the stability of our company.
Virtual Town Hall Wrap-Up
More than 500 associates joined our first Virtual Town Hall this morning. Thank you so much for submitting questions and engaging in a conversation with our leaders. We will continue to share answers to associate questions through our daily updates on email and the DENSO Mobile App. Today’s update is long because of pay information for next week, so here are just a few answers to common questions shared today.
Once back to work will associates be required to wear masks?
Will the company be supplying masks as well as gloves?
Should associates who are required to work on site self-isolate like healthcare workers?
Will associates with chronic health conditions be required to return to work?
I am eager to get back to work and want to volunteer to help.Is there a list to sign up to volunteer?
Based on the great response to today’s Virtual Town Hall, we are working to plan another one soon. Please continue to share questions with your leader, and you are always welcome to email DMMI_Communications@denso-diam.com.
