Good afternoon, DMMI Team,
I hope this sunny day finds you and yours healthy and happy. There is just something about spring that gives me hope during these stormy times. This week, I have a few things to share.
SAFETY
While most of our customers are not operating, we are putting plans in place to optimize safety conditions in our facility when they do. DENSO has a strong, regional SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental) team. One of their roles is to provide policy and guidance for all of North America, so they’ve been working with each facility to consider and understand our requirements. I am personally working with this group daily to make sure everyone has what they need. More information about health screenings, physical barriers and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards we will undertake throughout the region for your safety are coming soon.
HEALTH
This week, I’ve been fortunate to have several excellent conversations with Dr. Neal Gogan, our physician at DMMI and Medical Director at our DENSO Family Health Center. In this time of information overload, I wanted to better understand the facts surrounding COVID-19 and get his guidance on our direction. He is a great resource for all of us, and I’m pleased that he has agreed to answer your questions in a regular “Ask Dr. Gogan” format in our daily communication. Make sure you catch today’s Q&A, and consider what you may want to know next.
COMMUNICATIONS
In my note last week, I expressed how important it is to have meaningful and positive communication during these difficult times. We will be experimenting with a town hall meeting via WEBEX next week. Please submit your questions to our panel of DMMI leaders, medical experts, SHE and human resources via Survey Monkey or email DMMI_Communications@denso-diam.com.
EXCITING NEWS!
Those of you who have been working on-site this week have probably seen and heard about an exciting new project. Several weeks ago, DENSO started working on a partnership with a large automaker to produce powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs) for healthcare workers. This week, this team mobilized on the production floor at DMMI to begin manufacturing in our facility next week. Associates from several functions—engineering, tool & die, machine finishing, manufacturing, purchasing, packaging and many more—have been working around the clock to deliver on this, and we are so proud to be a part of it. We’re hoping to get customer approval to share more details about the project and our role very soon, so stay tuned for more great news.
Finally, I want to express sincere appreciation to all of you that supported operations this past week to ensure our critical industry keeps moving as required.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones!
Sincerely,
Kevin
