DMMI – Your Weekly Message from Kevin

Good afternoon DMMI family,

It’s official!  As per Governor Whitmer’s executive order, we will begin preparing to support our customers beyond service parts and medical devices next week.

Many associates have been hard at work to get our facility ready for the initial return to work.  Our entrance screening processes are intact.  Physical barriers have been installed to separate works stations and desks. X’s have been placed in common areas to remind us to keep social distance. And after many weeks of shortages, hand sanitizer, masks and other supplies are back in stock. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of you again soon.

MY REQUESTS

In the spirit of learning as we go, we know we will continue to learn and make improvements as our new systems are tested.  We have planned and prepared, but it’s impossible to predict every challenge. So, I am asking everyone to please:

  • Be Patient and Understanding
There will be challenges we haven’t anticipated.
  • Put Health and Safety First
Do not come to work if you have symptoms, feel sick or have been around others that are sick.  By putting your health first, you are protecting others as well.
  • Help Each Other Follow the Rules
We must learn and follow new rules, while remembering all of our previous policies. This can be overwhelming—so help each other out and treat each other with kindness. Assume that someone not following the rules needs a reminder, not a reprimand.
  • Start Conditioning
Many of our jobs are physically demanding. I recommend stretching as you would in the manufacturing environment. If you haven’t been doing the same kind of work at home that you do at DMMI, it’s time to start preparing.
  • Focus on Quality
The majority of our team has been away from DMMI. While time will be given to re-orient yourselves to operations manuals, standard work and quality alerts, coming back to work is an abnormal condition. So remember STOP, CALL, WAIT, Work Together (SCW2) whenever you have a question or concern.

TURNING THE DIAL, NOT FLIPPING A SWITCH

There is no magical switch to flip to take us back to March 20. Instead, we will gradually turn the dial and progress through a phased approach based on the best information and data we have available. We will be safe AND support our customers.  We can and must do both.

Finally, on Monday we will have our 3rd Virtual Town Hall.  We plan on discussing the items I have mentioned in today’s note as well as addressing questions we have received about health, safety, pay, and more. Please join!

Have a blessed weekend!

Sincerely,

Kevin
