Mental health resources – talking to children about COVID

To date, we’ve addressed and provided resources for your mental health – this week we want to focus on children. All this change is a lot for adults to process and deal with – the same is true for children. They hear and see much of what adults do, but may not understand the full meaning of this information, which can cause anxiety and confusion. Following are some resources to help you talk to your children about COVID-19:

  • CDC website: Talking with Children about Coronavirus Disease 2019
  • How to Talk to Children About COVID-19

Remember, the DENSO Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides resources and support for many issues including mental health, family conflict, domestic violence and financial hardship.

  • Through Behavioral Health Systems (BHS), associates and their dependents have access to 5 free in-person sessions with a mental health counselor. After 5 sessions, the cost will follow your current insurance plan.
  • BHS is temporarily covering some outpatient telepsych services for all covered members (including EAP) through June 30, 2020.

For more information, go to the Benefits website, use code “denso,” and click COVID-19 at the top. EAP info and resources can be found along the left-hand side.

If you are experiencing a serious mental health episode, you can apply for FMLA and/or short-term-disability through our standard benefits process. For details, contact your local Benefits or TMS representative.

Stay safe and healthy, both mentally and physically.
