September DENSO Spirit Award

I am nominating Terry Lee for the DENSO Spirit Award as she exemplifies what collaboration and teamwork means.

Although Terry does not directly report to me, she and I as well as IT are in collaboration to implement the DOMO Business Intelligence Software that will provide faster financial visibility to the company. Phase 1 of the project was to be completed in June; however due to deliverables that the vendor could not provide and the lack of current process documentation, the project got delayed and is now forecasted to be completed in November. The Angel report used to allocate and produce many of the financial KPI’s is a complex report involving complicated calculations and various allocations.

Discussions on how to accomplish the documentation were made since only Terry and a previous associate knew the Angel process. However, Terry is in the midst of the 2016 Revised Plan which is a major event in her department and as Assistant Manager, she is a key player. IT mapped out that in order to meet the November implementation deadline, the documentation needed to be completed by the end of August. In the midst of working on the 2016 Revised Plan, Terry voluntarily came in on the weekends during the entire month, documented her entire Angel processes in both VISIO and Word (82 pages) and still continues to be on track with working on the 2016 revised plan. I would like to note that because of the thoroughness of her documentation, IT uses Terry’s VISIO flowchart as an example of how other cross functional groups who will use DOMO should be documenting their processes.

To me, she is a dedicated worker, goes above and beyond her duties and is always willing to help whenever there is a need, exemplifying the DENSO Spirit.
