Andrew Clemence is the director of Quality Engineering at DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (DMMI) in Battle Creek, Michigan. He is responsible for ensuring the design quality throughout development, preparing products for mass production, product validation and initial quality for all new products launched at a Thermal Systems North American Center (TAC) facility.
Clemence joined DENSO in 1995 as an engineer in the Climate Control group responsible for Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) unit design for Chrysler. In 2001, he took an international assignment in Karyia, Japan, to work at DENSO Corporation’s global headquarters where he focused on air conditioning (A/C) system design for Toyota. Clemence returned to DENSO International America in 2003, and was promoted in 2005 to manager of the A/C System Design Department where he was responsible for resource planning, budget planning, and human development. In 2006, he was promoted again to senior manager of the department responsible for Ford A/C system design. Then, in 2011, he was promoted to director of Thermal Engineering adding Toyota system design to his responsibilities and launched the global Ford Fusion HVAC business. In 2014, he rotated to take on his current assignment as director of Quality Engineering at DMMI.
Clemence earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
