Pat Bassett is vice president of DENSO’s North American Research and Engineering Center located at DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM) in Southfield, Michigan. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s North American Research and Development, including Automated Drive and Connected Vehicles, Technical Planning, Engineering Planning, Intellectual Properties, and Creative Design activities.
Bassett joined DIAM in 1987 as a design engineer in the Thermal Department. He held various positions in the Thermal Division including an assignment at the company headquarters in Japan for 2 years. In 2002 is he was promoted to director and in 2007, he assumed the position of vice president of Thermal Systems Engineering, responsible for leading the overall direction of North American Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system design. During his time in Thermal, he was also responsible for establishing the department’s Electrical Components and Control Systems group as well as R&D. In 2014, Bassett was named vice president of DENSO’s North American Research and Engineering Center.
Bassett graduated from the University of Michigan in Dearborn, Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree in 1986. He is an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and the University of Michigan Dearborn Industry Visiting Committee.
