Thomas Esser

Tom Esser is vice president of the Ford Sales Group at DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM). Located in Southfield, Michigan, he is responsible for overseeing global sales and marketing activities, including sales expansion and overall management for Ford Motor Co.

Esser joined DENSO (formerly Nippondenso Co., Ltd.) in 1990, where he served as a sales engineer responsible for powertrain business in the Ford Sales Group. In 1995, he was promoted to account manager where he expanded his roles and responsibilities with regards to DIAM’s business relationship with Ford. In January 1997, Esser moved to the Chrysler Sales Group where he served as manager, overseeing DENSO’s Chrysler, Mercedes Benz and BMW thermal accounts.

In July 1999, Esser was named senior manager and returned to the Ford Sales Group where he was later appointed to director in 2002. As director, he was instrumental in strengthening DENSO’s relationship with Ford Motor Co. in North America and growing business in the areas of electrical and electronics and climate control. In 2009, Esser became responsible for the Ford Global Sales account.

Esser has more than 25 years of experience in automotive original equipment sales. Prior to joining DENSO, he served as a sales manager for Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit servicing General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.

Esser earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Package Engineering from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
