MARYVILLE, Tenn. – As a 25th anniversary gift to its employees and family members and to confirm a commitment to their health and well-being, DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. will build an on-site healthcare clinic and pharmacy opening in April 2015. Construction begins in August on an 8,000 square-foot facility that will offer convenience, more affordability for both associates and the company and more one-on-one time between patient and medical professionals. The company purchased land on Robert C. Jackson Drive adjacent to its on-campus softball field for the new clinic complex.
“I want to express to our employees and their families our gratitude for their hard work and support in so many ways,” said Jack Helmboldt, president and CEO of DENSO’s Maryville facilities, as well as executive director of DENSO Corporation.
“We wanted to bring them an easy-access alternative for quality healthcare and prescription medicines,” explained Helmboldt. “Next year’s 25th anniversary is the perfect time to reaffirm our commitment to those who helped us reach this anniversary.”
Take Care Health Systems, a nationwide vendor providing healthcare services to many corporations — among them Toyota, Michelin, and BMW — will operate and staff the on-site clinic, which will offer such health services as urgent care “walk-in” treatment, medical exams and immunizations, and a full-service pharmacy. Initial staff will include a physician, nurse practitioner, and nursing staff in addition to a pharmacist and pharmacy technician.
The clinic and pharmacy will be called the DENSO Family Health Center. After the center’s grand opening, employees and eligible family members can expect both weekday appointments and walk-in availability. Key benefits include the following:
– Health and wellness screenings
– Medical exams and lab work
– Chronic condition management, especially helpful for those with diabetes, hypertension, or other common health issues
– Acute care
– Drive-through pharmacy
Blount Memorial Hospital’s nursing staff will continue to be available in each of DENSO’s four manufacturing plants at designated nurses’ stations. DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee will become the first DENSO affiliate in North America to offer a combined health clinic and full-service pharmacy as an alternative choice for healthcare needs.
A leading supplier of advanced technology to the automotive industry, DENSO is one of Blount County’s largest employers. Established in 1988, DENSO’s Maryville operation produces starters, alternators, instrument clusters, a wide range of electronic components and an inverter for hybrid vehicles.
