Guanajuato, Mexico (May 28, 2019) – DENSO, the world’s second largest mobility supplier, announced today the opening of a nursery facility at its Silao plant in Guanajuato, Mexico. Nursery operations will begin in June 2019, serving children as young as approximately 1.5 months up to 4 years old. It is the first business nursery for employees in the automotive sector in Mexico and further solidifies DENSO’s position as a leader in social contributions to its workforce.
DENSO is hiring more than 30 professional educators to staff the facility, which will be able to accommodate more than 110 children in its initial stage. Sixty children are already enrolled and total enrollment expects to reach more than 220 children once at full capacity.
“We are committed to providing a great working environment for our employees,” said Mitsuru Kato, DENSO´s Mexico President at the Grand Opening Ceremony. “This extends beyond the office or factory floor to ensure we can reduce stress and anxieties in our employees’ lives. For many working families in Mexico, finding childcare presents an enormous challenge. This new facility supports our mother employees so they can focus more on their families.”
“This new facility will alleviate the stress of finding suitable childcare for the working mothers at DENSO’s Silao plant,” said Diego Sinhue, governor of Guanajuato state. “Beyond providing nursery services to working mothers, we hope it provides them an increased peace of mind knowing their child is being well cared-for in an onsite facility.”
Marcela Aldana, an employee at DENSO’s Silao plant in the Production Control department and a mother of three kids at nursery age, said, “DENSO cares not only for the job, DENSO cares about people. My family is so grateful for DENSO’s support, which allows me to continue working.”
DENSO is committed to meeting its North American employees’ needs. Recently, DENSO’s thermal manufacturing facility in Battle Creek, Michigan, was recognized by the Michigan Breastfeeding Network for creating and maintaining a supportive workplace for breastfeeding employees. DENSO provides the resources necessary for its employees to succeed in their professional and personal lives.
