The safety of our employees is our top concern as we navigate this global health pandemic. As the COVID-19 crisis continues across our region, DENSO’s NA Safety Health & Environment (SHE) group is taking a coordinated approach to help protect employees and minimize risk while meeting critical customer needs. DENSO will continue to adjust its approach and implement measures to help keep employees safe.
Government Orders and Meeting Customer Commitments
Many government entities in the U.S, Canada and Mexico where DENSO operates have issued shelter-in-place orders, or similar mandates. Accordingly, DENSO production facilities have been mostly inactive since March 23, and the company has encouraged employees to stay home and work remotely, if possible.
At the same time, first responders, health care providers, and the public, still need reliable transportation and access to parts if vehicles break down. Our communities still need transportation to get essentials like groceries and medical care.
To meet these needs, and in compliance with government mandates, some DENSO locations will continue to produce products deemed essential under local government requirements, such as aftermarket and service parts. This production primarily involves employees who volunteer to support the activity and features a reduced number of active assembly lines.
The company does not perform essential production to increase sales, but to support society in a time of crisis and ensure essential parts are available to all.
Employee Safety: Increased Precautions
DENSO has implemented strict safety measures across its facilities to help minimize risk for essential employees who continue to work onsite.
These include practicing social distancing, per CDC guidelines; screening employees prior to entry; increasing disinfection schedules; broadening the use of personal protective equipment; and more.
During the COVID-19 crisis, DENSO will continue to put safety first as we respect and support our employees, serve our customers, and positively contribute to a stronger society. As a company, we believe that, together, we can navigate the challenges ahead.
